The warning signs

Crying all the time? Sleepless? Can't see the point of anything? Don't tough it out alone - the earlier you get treatment for depression the faster you can bounce back from the blues.

DEPRESSION IS OFTEN MASKED BY OTHER SYMPTOMS, SUCH AS:

  • A persistently low mood

  • Tearfulness

  • Lack of energy or chronic tiredness

  • Trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep

  • Increased levels of anxiety

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Loss of appetite or overeating

  • Feelings of helplessness or hopelessness

  • Recurrent thoughts about death

(If you have several of these symptoms, see your doctor)
